I'm not sure you could portray depression in a manner that is realistic, meaningful, and fun. Maybe instead of making you slower, it could make you require more sleep or give you a restless sleeper like effect. Or maybe become exhausted faster. But then the fatigue death spiral just becomes worse.Night events are fairly similar to normal meta events in that they both affect zombies' movement and behavior.
