The MR556 will have 1/2X28tpi threaded barrel not 15X1 metric like MR223. The difference between 556 and 556A1 is rumored to be that the A1 will have the holes for pins (upper to lower) in the same config as milspec AR rifles and thus be interchangeable with them.
