Bob Gaines, a native of Miami, Oklahoma, has passed away after a short battle with cancer, according to Fans of Southern Rock. Bob was the brother to Steve and Cassie Gaines, who were members of the 1970s southern hard rock band Lynryd Skynyrd. The siblings grew up in Miami, Oklahoma where their names live on. In December 1975 she was hired, along with Cassie Gaines and Leslie Hawkins, as backing singers for the Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, whose leader, Ronnie Van Zant, dubbed them "The Honkettes".
