After inspecting the belt, there can only be two things left that could be happening: 1. The clutch is not getting a signal to turn on. This indicates some form of wiring problem. -or-. 2. The AC compressor is getting a command to turn on but is no longer able to, which would indicate that it needs replacing. 2.Received 521 Likes on 400 Posts. The coolant level doesn't dictate fan speed nor is there a sensor for that. Your issue seems to be from the AC high side high limit switch which is causes the fans to hit max. Most likely it's a plugged orifice tube causing this. The AC runs in defrost mode also.

Oct 30, 2021 · This is a relatively common problem with these trucks. It appears that the problem is with the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor or its wiring. When the ECU doesn't get a signal from the ECT, it doesn't know if the coolant is too hot or not and so as a failsafe, it runs the fan at 100% to avoid overheating.If you're really hurting for cooler temperatures you might consider a radiator with more fin surface area.
